Decision to set up the Polish Society of Traumatic Stress Studies (PSTSS) was made during the meeting of a group of Polish researchers, practitioners, and students interested in psychotraumatology. The meeting was initiated by European Society of Traumatic Stress Studies (ESTSS) - Board Chair Professor Berthold P.R. Gersons and Board Member Professor Norbert Gurris - and was organized by Professor Maja Lis-Turlejska at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Warsaw. The Polish Society of Traumatic Stress Studies is a member society of ESTSS, which means that PSTSS members have all the rights that ESTSS members have. The Polish Society for Traumatic Stress Studies seeks to ensure continued prominence is given to all aspects of traumatic stress and its many repercussions. In 2009 PSTSS in cooperation with Faculty of Psychology of University of Warsaw had organized European Workshops on Traumatic Stress Studies (EWOTS). PSTSS is the organizer of series of introductory workshops, trauma-focused treatments (e.g. TF-CBT, EMDR, BEP) trainings, and workshops eligible for ESTSS General Certificate in Psychotraumatology.
