TENTS Guidelines for care following disasters Print

Here is a link to the European Network for Traumatic Stress (TENTS) website: http://www.tentsproject.eu/index.jsp?USMID=95 . Those of you working to help in connection with the current flooding may, in particular, find useful information there. Bearing in mind that the TENTS guidelines were formulated chiefly on the basis of the experience of countries with greater experience and capabilities as far as psychosocial care following disasters is concerned, these guidelines can be treated as a source of information and also potential inspiration. TENTS was a two-year (May 2007 to May 2009) research programme, financed by European Union's Executive Agency for Health and Consumers. The subsequent two-year project TENTS-TP (TP: Training and Practice) is a continuation of TENTS.

As part of TENTS, two documents were prepared, based on a detailed review of the current literature and also on the opinions of experts. These are "The TENTS Guidelines for Psychosocial Care Following Disasters and Major Incidents" and also the booklet "Interventions in the aftermath of disaster". Both the above documents are available (in Polish as well) on the previously mentioned TENTS-TP website.
